3rd Biennial National Juried Fiber Arts Exhibition Awards Announced

The Awards Reception for our 3rd Biennial National Juried Fiber Arts Exhibition took place on Friday, July 21st here at Bower Center for The Arts. Ina Dixon, daughter of judge Elsabe J. Dixon, was here in place of her mother to share comments and insight to the winners.

Bower Annual Fundraiser The Art of Pairing: Tacos & Tequila

Our Annual Fundraiser, The Art of Pairing: Tacos & Tequila is quickly approaching and now is the time to grab your tickets!
This event will be a fun, interactive evening offering tacos and tequila pairings, live music by Music Road Co, salsa dancing with Lynchburg Salsa, art making experiences, silent auction and more, all while being immersed in one of Bower Center's largest and most diverse exhibits, the 3rd Biennial Fiber Arts National Juried Exhibition.
The evening will feature guided tastings of tequila, margaritas, Mexican fiesta menu and beverages catered by Suzy Q, etc. Guests will have an opportunity to take a memorable photo in our photo booth and participate in our silent auction featuring art, local gifts, restaurant certificates, hand crafted items and more!

Kinnfolk- Celtic Folk Duo!
|
Saturday, August 26 at 7pm
Advance Tickets: $15
Josh and Julie Kinn weave bouzouki, bodhran, and smooth vocal harmonies in their Celtic folk music from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
As their notoriety has expanded worldwide, their music has been featured on podcasts and radio programs across the globe. The pair recently received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts and the City of Roanoke to create a body of work exploring the history and folk legends of their town.

Saturday Salsa with Lynchburg Salsa

We are excited to be partnering with Lynchburg Salsa for this fun evening of dancing on Saturday, August 5th!
Lynchburg Salsa will be doing pre-tickets sales for this event as space is limited. Please email lynchburgsalsa@gmail.com to reserve your ticket. They will be offering a discount to those who reserve their tickets by July 31, 2023.
Doors open at 5:45pm Beginner Lesson from 6-7pm Social Dancing from 7-10pm
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or in advance! No partner is required to attend. Recommended attire is dressy casual. Flip flops are not recommended.

We are looking for volunteers to work as Front Desk Guest Services & Gallery Attendants during our hours of operation, Tues-Sat, 11am-3pm. Responsibilities include greeting guests, offering building tours, fielding questions, processing sales and registrations, and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of public spaces during open hours. This is a public volunteer position that requires mission-driven professionalism at all times.
