Bower Center Annual Fundraiser | The Art of Pairing: Tacos & Tequila

If you've driven past our front windows, you know that we're getting in the swing of our upcoming annual fundraiser!
The Bower Center for the Arts is excited to announce a new annual fundraising event for adults to enjoy an evening out while supporting the Bower Center’s mission and programs. The Art of Pairing – Tacos & Tequila, presented by Loper Financial, will be held on Saturday, August 19 from 7 PM – 10 PM in the beautiful & historic Bower Center for the Arts. }

Individual Registration: $55
Couples Registration: $100

Upcoming Summer Art Camp:
The Art of Good Health

Explore your creativity while practicing physical, academic, social, and emotional wellness. Throughout the week, you will work on art projects and participate in activities to enhance all areas of wellbeing. The creation of art can help us explore social and emotional wellness and connect us to the world around us. An example of activities will include practices for supporting our emotional health & wellbeing through yoga, movement, meditation and fostering mindfulness; learning the art of fostering positive body images and how to treat our bodies with respect; an introduction to nutrition and the art of food preparation; outdoor activities and exploring nature; and exploring creativity through painting, drawing, clay and more!

Open to ages 6-15 and SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE!

Kinnfolk- Celtic Folk Duo!

Saturday, August 26 at 7pm

Advance Tickets: $15

 

Josh and Julie Kinn weave bouzouki, bodhran, and smooth vocal harmonies in their Celtic folk music from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

As their notoriety has expanded worldwide, their music has been featured on podcasts and radio programs across the globe. The pair recently received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts and the City of Roanoke to create a body of work exploring the history and folk legends of their town.

 

 

3rd Biennial National Juried Fiber Arts Exhibition & Awards Reception

Our 3rd Biennial National Juried Fiber Arts Exhibition has begun!
This exhibit includes all forms of fiber art: functional, wearable, and fine art, original in concept and design from across the country.

An awards reception will take place next Friday, July 21st from 5-7pm at which time daughter of Judge Elsabé J. Dixon will provide be speaking on the judges remarks regarding the winning pieces.  The reception is open to the public. 

Stop by to browse the exhibit and be sure to drop your favorite selection into our People's Choice Ballot in the lobby.
