This Week

Josh and Julie Kinn weave bouzouki, bodhran, and smooth vocal harmonies in their Celtic folk music from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Since forming Kinnfolk in late 2018, the pair have played at festivals and listening rooms throughout Virginia and beyond. Their self-titled debut album dropped on March 7, 2020 (just one week before COVID-19 shut the state down) and they released their first original single, "The Borden Set," later that year. In 2021, Kinnfolk was one of 10 bands--representing 10 countries from across the globe--selected to be part of the inaugural Robinson Emerging Artist Showcase hosted by the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival. As their notoriety has expanded worldwide, their music has been featured on podcasts and radio programs across the globe. The pair recently received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts and the City of Roanoke to create a body of work exploring the history and folk legends of their town.

The duo released their second album, The Knotted Circle, on October 14, 2022.

Tickets: $15 advance, $20 at the door
Doors open at 6:30pm, show begins at 7pm.

Fall Classes Begin!

Adult clay hand building, ages 16+, is an excellent introduction to clay as an art medium. In this 6-week class, we will examine different types of clay, and discuss suitability for each in various projects.

Students will develop skills in the three primary processes for hand building, utilizing one or a combination of methods. Three-dimensional form will be achieved through methods of pinching, coiling, or slab building. Students will receive guidance and individualized instruction to accomplish projects of their own design.

This is a beginner to intermediate class. Emphasis will be on mastering basic hand building skills as well as learning the proper stages of clay to achieve a stable and balanced three-dimensional form.
Class Fee: $165 per person
Thursdays from August 14-September 28
