Bower Center LOVE Sign Installation & Ribbon Cutting

Ribbon Cutting ALERT!
At 11AM on June 30th, we will be celebrating the installation and ribbon cutting of our very own LOVE sign!
This sign was made possible through a Virginia Tourism grant and will be a new destination in their LOVEWORKS program. Additionally, this sign was designed by Liberty High School art students, similarly to Destination Bedford Virginia's LOVE sign!

3rd Biennial National Juried Fiber Arts Exhibition

We are so excited for our 3rd Biennial National Juried Fiber Arts Exhibition! This exhibit includes all forms of fiber art: functional, wearable, and fine art, original in concept and design from across the country. An awards reception will take place on Friday, July 21st from 5-7pm at which time Judge Elsabe Dixon will provide her remarks regarding the winning pieces. The reception is open to the public.
Online Exhibition Gallery goes live Tuesday, June 27th.

Upcoming Summer Art Camps!

Enter the world of creative story telling, writing, performing, illustrating & more! Join us in creating a collaborative story that will include drawing and illustration, using several different, artistic mediums, creative writing, bookmaking, and performance arts. There will be a performance of the story at the end of the week and students will receive a printed copy of the story. The original story will be publicly displayed in the Wharton Garden, storybook walkway next-door to the Bower for all the community to enjoy!
Open to ages 6-15.

Bower Center Annual Fundraiser

The Bower Center for the Arts is excited to announce a new annual fundraising event for adults to enjoy an evening out while supporting the Bower Center’s mission and programs. The Art of Pairing – Tacos & Tequila, presented by Loper Financial, will be held on Saturday, August 19 from 7 PM – 10 PM in the beautiful & historic Bower Center for the Arts.

Kinnfolk- Celtic Folk Duo!

Josh and Julie Kinn weave bouzouki, bodhran, and smooth vocal harmonies in their Celtic folk music from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
As their notoriety has expanded worldwide, their music has been featured on podcasts and radio programs across the globe. The pair recently received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts and the City of Roanoke to create a body of work exploring the history and folk legends of their town.

Mosaic a 12" square concrete paver for the base of a colorful addition to your garden. Glass and/or unglazed porcelain tiles will be used to create the mosaic. Considerations for exterior projects will be covered. Previous mosaics experience is not required for this workshop.
