Bower Center Annual Fundraiser

The Bower Center for the Arts is excited to announce a new annual fundraising event for adults to enjoy an evening out while supporting the Bower Center’s mission and programs. The Art of Pairing – Tacos & Tequila, presented by Loper Financial, will be held on Saturday, August 19 from 7 PM – 10 PM in the beautiful & historic Bower Center for the Arts.

Mosaic Stepping Stone Weekend Workshop

Friday-Sunday, June 23, 24 & 25

(See listing for times)

    

    Mosaic a 12" square concrete paver for the base of a colorful addition to your garden. Glass and/or unglazed porcelain tiles will be used to create the mosaic. Considerations for exterior projects will be covered. Previous mosaics experience is not required for this workshop.

Kinnfolk- Celtic Folk Duo!

Saturday, August 26 at 7pm

Josh and Julie Kinn weave bouzouki, bodhran, and smooth vocal harmonies in their Celtic folk music from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

As their notoriety has expanded worldwide, their music has been featured on podcasts and radio programs across the globe. The pair recently received a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts and the City of Roanoke to create a body of work exploring the history and folk legends of their town.

 

 

Upcoming Summer Art Camps!

Enter the world of creative story telling, writing, performing, illustrating & more! Join us in creating a collaborative story that will include drawing and illustration, using several different, artistic mediums, creative writing, bookmaking, and performance arts. There will be a performance of the story at the end of the week and students will receive a printed copy of the story. The original story will be publicly displayed in the Wharton Garden, storybook walkway next-door to the Bower for all the community to enjoy!

Open to ages 6-15.

 

11th Annual National Juried Exhibition Reception & Winners

Bower Center’s 11th Annual National Juried Exhibition includes seventy-eight artworks by fifty-two artists from twelve states which were selected by the juror/judge Ray Kass. This exhibit will run until June 17th.

Winners were announced June 9th at our Awards Reception, so be sure to stop in and see all of the winning pieces and vote on YOUR favorite piece in our People's Choice Ballot!
