Exhibit Opening Reception for

Brenda Gay Simmons and John Wiercioch

Friday, December 13, 5 - 7 PM

Exhibit receptions honoring artists John Wiercioch and Brenda Gay Simmons will be held Friday, December 13, from 5-7 pm at the Bower Center for the Arts.  Both artists will provide gallery talks about their respective exhibits during the reception and light refreshments will be available.

In the Sara Braaten Gallery and lobby are paintings by John Wiercioch, the Best of Show recipient in the 2023 Bower Center’s 11th Annual National Juried Exhibition.  John, an artist for over 40 years, sees his paintings as “visual music- songs without words,” and features inventive use of color at the forefront of his compositions. Wiercioch will hold his gallery talk at 6:30pm.

Brenda Gay’s exhibit, “Coffee…Drink It or Paint with It” is on view in the Terrace Gallery and lobby. She says her use of environmentally friendly mediums helps her “connect with Mother Earth and share Her beauty with others through the expression of art.” Simmons is the fourth recipient of the 2024 Suzie Viemeister Emerging Artist Residency.
