Art In Motion National Juried Exhibit

Art in Motion is a National Juried exhibition that celebrates the energy, excitement, and expression of movement in art. This exhibit explores the theme of motion through 2-D and 3-D works in any medium, including paintings, sculpture, video, photography, kinetic art, mobiles, mixed media, and more. Whether motion is physically present through moving elements or implied through composition and design, this exhibit showcases creative works that capture the dynamic power of movement.

Our Fall Schedule has been released with a fresh lineup of classes and workshops designed to spark creativity for all ages and experience levels. From hands-on artmaking to skill-building opportunities, there’s something new to explore in stained glass, mosaics, clay, weaving, painting, drawing and more!
 

Mixed Media Tapestry Weaving 

 

One-Day Workshop

Saturday, Sept 26, 2026, 1:00-4:00 PM

Adults

Fee: $55 per student

 

 Students will receive hands-on instruction in basic weaving techniques and create a finished tapestry using a cigar box as the loom for their tapestry weaving .

 

Spooky Stained Glass Workshop

 

One-Day Workshop

Saturday, Oct 2, 2025, 5:30-8:30 PM

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Adults

Fee: $65 per student

 

Add to your spooky window decor in this stained glass class, where you'll learn to cut and grind glass into seasonal shapes such as a ghost, candy corn, bat, or pumpkin. Solder it all together and voila, you have a new suncatcher to take home.

One-Day Workshop

We all have them, those projects that start out strong and then hit a wall somewhere along the way. Paintings, sculpture, quilt designs, anything that involves composition, balance, flow, etc.

As a group we will review each project to discern where the work stalled and discuss possible solutions to help the artist move forward.

 

Drawing Basics II

 

Tuesdays, Oct 6-20, 2026,  4:30-6:00PM

Adults

Fee: $95 per student

 

Gain confidence and hone your drawing skills! This three-week session is meant to provide you with opportunity and instruction about still life, nature, and figure drawing.  The environment will be encouraging and designed for success!

 

The Stories Behind Contemporary Art

 

Wednesdays, Oct 14-Nov 18, 2026

Adults

Fee: $90 per student

 

The class reveals the stories behind some of the most popular contemporary art and artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Come with the curiosity to learn about several significant artists who have impacted visual culture. We will investigate artists ranging from Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat to Kara Walker, Glenn Ligon, and Simone Leigh.

Family-Friendly Events

Bring the whole family to CAB Kids! Opera on the James Presents Bremen Town Musicians on Saturday, October 10, for a delightful afternoon of music, storytelling, and hands-on creativity. This charming adaptation of the classic Brothers Grimm tale, performed by Opera on the James’ Tyler Young Artists, features familiar melodies and an entertaining story that celebrates friendship, cooperation, and appreciating one another's differences. After the performance, children can meet the performers during a Q&A session and enjoy themed crafts inspired by the opera.

 

Admission is free, and while registration is not required, advance registration is appreciated to help with planning.
