Intermediate Guitar Workshop with Hiroya Tsukamoto

In this workshop, you will learn various techniques of fingerstyle guitar (playing with the fingers or fingernails in place of a pick), including various chords and basic musical theory.

Fabulous Felt Flowers
August 6, 2022; 10am
In this fun hands-on workshop, we will transform Merino wool top into beautiful felt flowers using just our hands, imagination, and a little soap and water. This magical process is called wet felting. We will attach beads and a pin back so that you may adorn a coat or hat.

Open Mic Night is Back!
May 19th from 7-9pm
Bower Center is excited to bring back our Open Mic Night with DJ Showtime, Jon Hayden! Participants will sign up to perform when they arrive. Time will be limited to one song, poetry reading, or other artistic performance per participant but you may sign up to perform more than once. A microphone and speaker will be available for your use.

Los Gatos Live Concert!

On May 27 Bower Center for the Arts welcomes Los Gatos, a Latin Jazz group based out of Roanoke, VA. Performing Latin Jazz arrangements of tunes by the late great jazz pianist Chick Corea, Los Gatos will record this live performance as a part of their next CD!

Hiroya Tsukamoto Concert
June 4, 2022 @ 7pm
Hiroya is a one-of-a-kind composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter from Kyoto, Japan. He began playing the five-string banjo when he was thirteen, and took up the guitar shortly after. Hiroya has been leading concerts internationally including several appearances at Blue Note(NYC), United Nations and Japanese National Television(NHK). In 2018, Hiroya won 2nd place in International Finger Style Guitar Championship.
