Get ready to build, decorate, and celebrate with your entire crew! In this unique, two-hour collaborative workshop, families of all dynamics (parents, children, grandparents, dynamic duos!) will work as a cohesive team to create a whimsical ceramic masterpiece: a fully personalized Ceramic Gingerbread House and Gingerbread People.
Instead of the usual mess of baking, your family will experience the pure joy of collaborative creation. We will use easy, fundamental hand-building techniques (slab construction for the house and thoughtful details for the figures) to build a single, substantial ceramic structure. Everyone contributes! Children can design the 'candy' details and help build, while adults can handle the main construction, making it a true memory-making experience.
This is your family’s creative space. While we embrace the classic look of traditional gingerbread, we prioritize personalization. Each house will be unique, incorporating symbols, textures, and designs that reflect your family's specific story, interests, and creative spirit. Your gingerbread people will be just as unique, reflecting the individuals in your own family 'village.' We focus on shared creativity and community, making this a wonderful celebration for all.
To guarantee that your family’s collaborative gingerbread house and unique village of accompanying figures are a central part of your holiday display, this class is perfectly timed. Following drying and firing, your finished piece will be ready for pickup just in time to celebrate Christmas.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Olivia first discovered the transformative joy of pottery in 2024, and it quickly blossomed from a casual interest into a profound passion. The immediate connection she felt to the earth-based medium and the process of creation was captivating, leading her to fall deeply in love with the art form. This passion now drives her studio practice, where she spends countless hours refining her skills.
Her primary focus is on throwing functional pottery, creating pieces like mugs, bowls, and plates designed to be used and cherished every day. While the wheel is her main tool, Olivia also greatly enjoys the tactile freedom of hand building and occasionally crafts a unique, decorative piece that serves purely as art. She is fortunate to be able to share her creations with others by selling her finished work both through her online store and at various local markets.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been teaching several pottery classes at the Bower Center, an experience she truly enjoys. What makes pottery so special to Olivia is the deep connection it gives us to the people who came before us, linking her to a craft thousands of years old, as well as its inherent sustainability. Working with simple, natural materials like clay allows her to create beautiful, lasting objects that celebrate both history and our environment.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations made 1 week or more in advance of the class date will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made within 3 - 6 days will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours to the class will not be refunded.
Students will have the option to transfer registration to another class in place of receiving a refund.
Special consideration will be given to cancellations due to health-related issues and family emergencies.
