Folk Art from Around the World Every culture, every group of people leave their mark on the world through their creations. Paintings, music, pottery, weavings, mosaics all speak to us of how other see their world.

In Mixed Media, we will be explore the Yoruba culture, making masks and fabric costumes for the Egungun Masquerade Spectacle. Time permitting, we will explore batik dyeing of fabric from Indonesia and the making of pictographs found in Pacific Island cultures.

Mosaics of Peruvian figures – Whether you choose graceful dancing humans or wildlife “geoglyphs” found on the Plains of Nasca we’ll create a 9x12 mosaic you can make using colorful tiles and frame it or mount on an easel (frame and easel not included) at home.

In Music: Let's "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" our way around the world. Tubanos, djembes, buckets, homemade shakers, rain sticks, and curiosity are all we need to explore sounds of distant cultures. Campers will learn to identify call-and-response, echo, time signatures, and even create a language of their own using rhythmic patterns and imagination.

Pricing
