SUMMARY:Pottery Basics and Beyond with Kim Clarke
DESCRIPTION:Unleash your inner artist in this relaxed and fun six-week pottery class! Dive into the fundamentals of hand-building with the ancient punch coil method\, creating organic and expressive forms without rigid rules. Then\, discover the mesmerizing magic of the potter's wheel\, learning to center clay and throw basic shapes at your own pace. This class is all about creative exploration and getting your hands dirty   expect a laid-back\, supportive atmosphere where experimentation is encouraged and every piece is a journey of discovery. No experience necessary\, just a desire to play with clay! MATERIALS LIST Students will be provided with a 25 lb bag of clay (cone 5) and a variety of glaze options.  INSTRUCTOR BIO Kim Myhre Clarke's artistic journey began in the vibrant cultural landscape of Los Angeles\, where she was nurtured by the creative spirit of her artistic father. Her early years were marked by a wanderlust that led her across the globe\, a journey during which she embraced every opportunity to immerse herself in ceramic classes\, regardless of her location. This lifelong dedication to the craft deepened as she honed her skills. For over two decades\, Kim has passionately shared her expertise\, teaching pottery and ceramic art to countless students. Her whimsical and distinctive work has garnered significant recognition\, gracing numerous galleries and enriching private collections worldwide. Today\, Kim Myhre Clarke continues to create from her studio in Lynchburg\, Virginia\, where her art reflects a lifetime of exploration\, learning\, and playful imagination.  CANCELLATION POLICY Cancellations made 1 week or more in advance of the class date will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made within 3-6 days will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours to the class will not be refunded. -Students will have the option to transfer registration to another class in place of receiving a refund. -Special consideration will be given to cancellations due to health-related issues and family emergencies. -If you plan miss a session of class\, please inform your instructor\, or email our Program Coordinator\, Anna M. Filiaggi at a.filiaggi@bowercenter.org-There will be no refunds or discounts given for missed classes.
