Tai Chi Qigong

Monday, June 21, 2021 (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

In this class, we will practice the Hunyuan Qigong (often shortened to Hunyuangong) movements of Hunyuan Tai Chi. This qigong method is rooted in the philosophy behind traditional Chinese medicine and consists of gentle, mindful movements which are practiced with iterative intention. Regular practice of these movements will unlock the many health benefits that Tai Chi has to offer. The simple, easy to remember, easy to physically perform movements in this set contain the essential ingredients of Tai Chi and are suitable for nearly everyone, regardless of age, fitness level or physical difficulties. Committed to life-long learning, Scott has been studying Tai Chi and related arts since 1992 with a variety of teachers. He began teaching in 2014 after observing a class conducted by his teacher for Carrillion Wellness where students had various health challenges. Several months into the class, students began to share stories of how the class had changed their lives, and Scott realized that he had something to offer his community. Scott's interest in Tai Chi led him to China, where he received certification in 'Chen shi Xinyi Hunyuan Taijiquan'. He has also received his teacher's endorsement to teach Yang style Tai Chi and is a certified 'Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention' instructor.
