4th Biennial Fiber Arts National Juried Exhibition Call for Artists

Description

This exhibition is open to all artists over the age of 18. Entries must be original works (no reproductions) and created within the past three years…after January 1, 2022. This exhibit includes all forms of fiber art: functional, wearable, and fine art, original in concept and design, not have been created in a class/workshop or from a kit, nor been in a previous exhibit at Bower Center. Artwork must be prepared to hang, unless it to be on a pedestal. No work may be removed before the end of the exhibit.

Max size: 2D    60” in either direction 

3D - There is space for free-standing broad-based sculpture that is of varying heights exceeding 60” for special installation. Art requiring pedestal bases should be no larger than 15”-20” at the base and limited to 3’- 4’ in height. Indicate on entry form if a pedestal is required. Works suspended may be entered. Contact Bower Center about lengths exceeding 5-6’ length , 1-2’ width/depth,  and/or special installation.  Please note the April 19, 2025 date listed on this page refers to the entry deadline.  The actual exhibit will take place during the dates listed below. 

Exhibit will take place June 24 - August 9, 2025

Meet Our Juror/Judge: Sarah P. Bolduc


Artist, curator, lecturer, Sarah Bolduc has served as President of Lake Country Artisans Guild from 2016-2023, growing the organization and unifying  artisans with communities in both Virginia and   North Carolina. She curates and installs exhibits at a number of exhibit venues including MacCallum More Museum and Gardens in Chase City VA, The Prizery in South Boston VA, and is Managing Curator of The Gallery at The Find in Littleton NC.

As a mixed media artist she creates modern art utilizing varied mediums and her fiber art has attracted much attention and brought many local, regional, and national awards her way, including 2021 National Juried Best in Show here at Bower Center for the Arts and 1st Place for a hand-dyed piece at MacCallum More Museum and Gardens in 2018.

In addition, Sarah's art has been selected for publication: Fresh Fish:   Textile Artists and Poets explore underwater life (2021), Sew to Speak, SAQA  (2024); and most recently Artemis volume XXIX-2022, volume XXX-2023 and volume XXXI-2024.




Pricing

Early Bird Pricing (until 3/22/25): $35 entry fee for up to 3 works of art. 
Early Bird Email/Paper Entries: $45

Additional $10 for adding a 4th entry.

Standard Entry Pricing (After 3/22/25 thru 4/19/25) : $45 entry fee for up to 3 works of art. 
Standard Email/Paper Entries: $55

Additional $10 for adding a 4th entry.
