Spotlight Kids: The Toy Store

Thursday, March 19, 2026 (4:30 PM - 6:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Have you ever wondered what happens in a toy store after the lights go out? Find out in our production of The Toy Store!

Join us for a high-energy comedy where the action begins once the shop owner, Ms. Pleasant, locks up for the night. All the toys on the shelves—from the sleepy Daisy the Doll and the high-tech Robo the Robot to the bouncy Super Balls and the mischievous Wild Things—spring to life for a night of music, mayhem, and fun!

This class is perfect for every young performer. We will focus on:

  • Physical Comedy & Pantomime: Learning to move and act like a toy (a stiff robot, a wobbly doll, a sprinting dog). This is great for new actors with fewer lines!
  • Character Voices: Developing a unique voice and personality for our wacky toy characters.
  • Teamwork and Ensemble: Working together to create a magical world on stage, especially in our exciting crowd scenes.
  • Stage Presence: Building confidence and learning to have fun in the spotlight!

Whether your child is excited to be a star with lots of lines, or happy to be a dancing Super Ball in the background, this short, fast-paced play has a role for everyone. Get ready to play—this is going to be a blast!

Performance: Students will perform a final, fully staged production of The Toy Store on the last day of class for family and friends, followed by a small reception.

MATERIALS LIST:

Students will receive a list of costume and prop requests at the second class session.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:

Eric began acting in school theatre in kindergarten. Over the years he has returned to the stage in such gems as: Snow White, Arsenic and Old lace, Inherit the Wind, Brigadoon, and most recently Little Town Players’ production of The Diary of Anne Frank. He took a brief, ill-advised break from theatre to study engineering but has found his way back to his true love. Eric and his wife and children moved to Bedford two years ago and they have all fallen in love with our wonderful town.
