Stained Glass Foundations

Description

Ready to really sink your teeth into stained glass? This 4-week beginner course takes you from first cut to finished piece, twice. You'll create two projects: a suncatcher, chosen from several patterns, and a second piece designed entirely by you. Throughout the course, you'll build your projects step by step, from cutting and grinding glass to soldering. We'll also cover safety tips, pattern design, sourcing supplies, and more to help you continue your stained glass journey with confidence. All tools and materials are provided.

Instructor Bio:

Lisa is a California native who relocated to Virginia in 2021, drawn to the region's natural beauty and a quieter way of living. A former wedding photographer for nearly a decade, she spent years documenting meaningful moments and celebrating human connection, a passion that now infuses her teaching. After discovering stained glass, she was drawn to its meditative quality and the way small scale work allows room for creative flexibility. She began teaching in 2024 and has developed a philosophy centered on process over perfection. Her classes blend practical instruction with playfulness, encouraging students to tap into creativity while building genuine confidence. Beyond stained glass, Lisa explores embroidery, quilting, digital drawing, mosaics, and anything else that piques her interest. She's equally passionate about gardening and herbalism, practices that, like teaching, ground her in intention and care. When she works in her home studio, she's often joined by one of her four cats, who serve as her most dedicated creative supervisors. Her workshops become a welcoming space where students can show up authentically, experiment freely, and leave feeling more capable than when they arrived.
