Lesson 3 - Painting – We will complete a small landscape utilizing the skills learned in the first two sessions and practicing various brush techniques. Canvas and paint for this exercise will be provided.

Lesson 4 – Putting it all together and making a game plan. Students will begin a painting using a scene of their own choosing. First hour will entail sketching on canvas, group analysis of composition and discussing the steps needed to complete each individual work. Then the fun begins.

Instructor Bio:

Lori Stetson is an award-winning artist who resides with her husband (and muse) Dave in Bedford County. She is a self-taught artist who grew up in a family of gifted artists - her father, a grandmother, and both grandfathers were painters. Her parents encouraged her love of art and passion for animals. The variety of animals that became family members through the years served as the inspiration for her own artwork. Lori worked for an equine veterinarian for over 35 years who along with his wife were two of her original patrons and have continued to encourage her artistic endeavors through the years. After several decades of producing commissioned animal portraits, she stepped outside her comfort zone in 2002 and began producing from her head and her heart and exploring new media. Wire sculpting, oil painting and crafting with natural materials are just a few of the mediums in which she currently works. Lori’s art may be seen locally at Goose Creek Studio and Gallery, at her studio on the third floor (3-F) at Bower Center and online at Wirewoods and Other Whims at: facebook.com/wirewoodsandotherwhims

Her work has been featured on the covers of national magazines and sales catalogs.
