Fabulous Nuno-Felt Scarves with Dawn Edwards

Fabulous Nuno-Felt Scarves with Dawn Edwards

Friday, May 9, 2025 (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

While felt is the oldest known textile to humankind, ‘Nuno-felting’ is a relatively new felting technique in the world of felting, developed in 1992 by Australian fiber artist, Polly Stirling. The word "nuno" comes from the Japanese word for fabric or cloth, 布. Nuno-felting is a variation on the ancient textile technique of felting, which involves combining loose wool fibers, with a loosely woven fabric (such as the lightweight silk that we will be using) to create a unique, light-weight fabric. Come explore the ancient art of feltmaking with a modern twist. Your finished scarf will be lovely.
