Let's Get This Show On The Road!

Tuesday, April 23, 2024 (5:00 PM - 6:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

To register for this class, CLICK HERE.

In this immersive theater class, students will work together to create their very own production of The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia).

Students will create this production from top to bottom, meaning that there will be an array of roles to play beyond just acting! So students that love to sew, we will teach them how to refashion other items into a costume. For students who love to build things, this is a fantasy world so things can and should be totally the wrong scale – a chair so big you have to crawl into it or a stool so small you’re practically on the floor! Instructor Dana will help to tap into their creative side when constructing the set.

They will perform at the end of the class. For youth from age 7 and up! Even perfect for college students with an interest in theater production!

Begins on Tuesday, March 5-April 23rd, 5-6:30pm.
*Parents are encouraged to attend the first meeting as we will be designing a production schedule that fits everyone's needs!*

We want to encourage families, if their students are not performers, but they want to be creative in some way and be involved in this performance – we want them to be comfortable and confident to participate….The set design, the costuming, we can even do lighting, any area that they’re interested in we would love to have the youth in this community to participate.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:

Dana Tickle started performing at the age of 3 and still has not stopped 55 years later. Dana holds BA in Theatre performance from Roanoke College and an M. Ed. In Early Childhood Education. She’s taught theatre to students of all ages for 28 years before retiring to pursue her great love of teaching in a Art Center such as Bower. Dana can’t wait to share her love of Theatre and Creative play with the students this spring!

“I believe that Theater is such a great way to problem solve. Not only does it teach people to have confidence, but it also helps the super shy kids to work through some of their fears. If they’re playing a character, then it’s not as scary.” – Dana
